Our first game back from the COVID break against Tiffy Army FC was a thriller, with the game ending 3-2 thanks to a hatrick and last minute penalty from #09 Mika.
Following a 0-0 first half, it was Army who went ahead 2-0 as the rain fell hard at Svay Rieng Stadium, both goals coming from long range drives which found the bottom corners on a wet surface. But our team dug deep and fought hard, never giving up on the game.
It wasn’t until the 76th minute that #09 Mika got his first of the evening, making the most of some poor defending from the visitors to drive the ball home at the near post. His second followed just 5 minutes later from the penalty spot, after the Army goalkeeper had spilt the ball in his box and then fouled #07 Monyudom is an attempt to win it back. Our Spanish striker showed fear as he calmly sent the opposition stopper the wrong way.
Our winner then came with the last kick of the match, another #09 Mika penalty in the 93rd minute, after his attempted chip was palmed off the line by the Army keeper, only for their defender to slip and handle the ball inside the box. The penalty was a copy of the first, with the goalkeeper getting a hand to it but to no effect as the ball found the back of the net and we took away all 3 points!
