It was a disappointing return to league action at the weekend as we fell to a 3-2 defeat against a physical Viskaha FC team, who were out to recover some ground at Prince Stadium after a poor start to their season.
The home team went ahead after just 8 minutes thanks to a Bunheing Reung strike from the edge of the box after the ball was cleared weakly, and he was left free to calmly place his strike into the top right corner.
Visakha added a second 20 minutes later, Mohammed Faeez Khan this time pushing through our defenders to pick up a loose cross and placing the ball low past our keeper, the goal being allowed to stand despite protests from our players over a potential foul and offside players obscuring play.
We would reply before the halftime break however, back-to-back Golden Boot winner Privat with a powerful header past the Visakha keeper after a perfectly placed cross from right back Saret Krya.
The second half got of to a fast start, with both teams pushing for the next goal, which came on 64 minutes with another headed finish, this time from Mika, who muscled his way past the opposition defense to get on the end of a Sok Samnang cross.
Tied at 2-2, the game would be decided by a Ajayi penalty after Mika was very harshly accused of pulling back a player inside the box, replays showing contact was minimal if there was any at all. The Visakha striker stepped up and neatly placed the ball into the bottom left corner.
A late call for a penalty from the other end was waved away by the referee, despite there being significantly more contact than the incident just earlier, and the match came to an end as we were dealt our first defeat of the season, in a game that left quite a few talking points.
